DAYE STONE
SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Days Creek Students, Families, Staff, Alumni, and Community Members,
It is an incredible privilege to serve the Days Creek community as Superintendent of the Days Creek School District. For me, this opportunity is much more than a professional position- it is an opportunity to come home and serve the community where it all began.
I am a proud graduate of Days Creek, Class of 1989. The experiences, relationships, teachers, coaches, and community members who were part of my years here helped shape who I am today. After graduating from Days Creek, I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Montana Western and later a master’s degree from Eastern Washington University. My career in education has provided me opportunities to serve students and families in a variety of roles, but there is something incredibly meaningful about bringing those experiences back home to Days Creek.
I believe one of the greatest strengths of a small school is our ability to truly know our students. Every student deserves to be known by name, strength, and need. Knowing a student’s name creates belonging. Knowing their strengths allows us to build confidence and opportunity.
Knowing their needs gives us the responsibility to provide the support, instruction, and relationships necessary for them to grow. Just as importantly, I believe we must connect purpose to everything we do. Students need to understand why their education matters and how the work they are doing today connects to their future.
Whether a student’s pathway leads to college, career and technical education, military service, entrepreneurship, agriculture, the trades, or directly into the workforce, our responsibility is to help them discover their strengths and develop a purposeful pathway toward a successful future. We want students exploring opportunities that connect their interests and abilities to meaningful careers, including the high-wage and high-demand careers available in our region and beyond.
Our mission to inspire and develop learners, thinkers, and leaders should be visible in every classroom, activity, program, and decision we make. We will maintain high expectations for our students while providing the relationships and support necessary to help them reach those expectations. Our goal is not simply to get students to graduation. It is to prepare them to leave Days Creek Charter School with a purpose, a plan, and a pathway.
As an alumnus, I understand that the Days Creek School District belongs to more than those of us who work within its walls. It belongs to generations of families who have attended this school, supported its programs, filled its gymnasiums, worked on its grounds, cheered for its students, and taken pride in this community. That connection between school and community is something worth protecting and strengthening.
Coming home to serve the school and community that helped raise me is both humbling and exciting. I am proud of where Days Creek has been, but I am even more excited about where we can go together. By honoring our traditions, strengthening relationships, maintaining high expectations, and ensuring that every decision remains focused on students, I believe we can continue moving from good to great.
Thank you for welcoming me home and for your continued support of our students and staff. I look forward to working alongside you as we build the next chapter of our school district.
Sincerely,
Daye Stone
Superintendent
Days Creek School District
Go Be Great!
